Ray's in Huachuca City, AZ

October 2014

Autumn has fallen and so has the temps.  Our short ride over to Ray’s in Huachuca City required some serious cold weather gear as the temps were in the low 50s…brrrrr.  And with all the rain Southeast Arizona has gotten this year, it was also green, green, green.  The ride may have been short but it was exhilarating and through some beautiful Arizona greenery.  The riding season in the Desert Southwest is just getting started!

Ray’s was ready for us.  Their usual Church group took up one long table and SEAT took up the rest of the restaurant.  The ladies who took care of us had our names down before the lunch was over, and they will probably remember several of us for quite a while…they were that good.  The food was just as good, large portions and the bill was very reasonable.  Once the dishes came out of the kitchen it got pretty quiet as folks began to dig in.  Ray’s did good!

The mix of SEAT members who come to the monthly lunches always seems to change from month to month.  This month was no different with some newer SEAT members mixed in with members from way back.  Their bikes, all clean and shiny, make for a most excellent mix in the parking lot as well.  From Tony’s old airhead to Tad’s new K16, there are always some way kewl bikes to check out.  For sure the new water-head R12 has a strong following already.  Wait till the new R-RS and the new R-R come out!  Who’ll have the first one at a SEAT lunch?

A big SEAT Happy Birthday goes out to Tad Roberts.  Tad lives in Casa Grande and was the farthest rider to make the SEAT October lunch.  Here’s to many more birthdays and many more miles to everyone.

Susan O’Brien, the new SEAT Store manager, was on hand with some new SEAT shirts.  Susan has put together some really good looking shirts.  The SEAT Store on the SEAT web site should be open soon.  Be sure to check them out.

There were 29 SEAT members and one guest at Ray’s:  Lee & Judy Aitken, Skip Blecker, Jim Breen, Steven Cass, Jeff Dean, Dave Delie, Jack & Camille Herbst, Mike Holmes, Deborah Josselyn, Monica Kopf, Bob Leichtenberg, Craig Littlefield, Al Maurine, Deryle & Wanda Mehrten, Carl Mueller, Jon & Rachelle Nicolussi, Susan O’Brien, Phillip Orth, Tad Roberts, Frank Ruffin, Tony Sanell, Don Schweiger, Alan Speert, Roger & Susan Voelker, and guest Jerry Marzinsky.

November the SEAT lunch will be at The Steak Out Restaurant and Saloon in Sonoita.  The Steak Out has been on the corner of Hwy 83 and Hwy 82 for years.  It’s burned down a time or two, but like the Phoenix has risen from the ashes each time.  They have a large room that can easily hold a bunch of SEAT members. Let’s show them just how active a club SEAT is!

By the time you read this, there should be a nice group of SEAT members on the way to Alpine for the Annual SEAT October Fest.  There will door prizes and fun times for sure.  If you couldn’t make Alpine this year, start planning now for next year.  The annual SEAT Christmas Party will be on Saturday the 13th of December in Tucson this year.  Check the SEAT web site for all the details.  www.SEATRider.org

Thanks to all who made the ride to Ray’s.  As always it’s the SEAT members who make SEAT so good.  See you next month!
