Melin's Trattoria, Tubac, AZ

 October 2010

You tend to forget the beauty of the Arizona high desert until the second or third color change paints the roadsides and hillsides in some color you don’t know the name of.  Riding across Hwy 82 through Sonoita, one of Arizona’s “Wine Country” regions, and by the City Park in Patagonia to the SEAT lunch was one of those days you couldn’t miss the color change.  Yellow…from roadside to hill side, on both sides, lots and lots of yellow.

These are some of the best riding times to ride in and around the deserts of Arizona, New Mexico and California.  The cool mornings and mild afternoons make trips to places like Laughlin easy (hint, hint).  Riding over to Melio’s to get together with a bunch of like minded motorcyclists just made the ride that much better.

Melio’s Trattoria is on the edge of the Tubac Village artists’ homes and shops.  Their menu is pure Italian and they did a spaghetti special that was very good.  Service is always warm and right on time.  A nice restaurant all in all.

The Village of Tubac is a neat place to visit if you are looking for art and jewelry of the Southwest.  Their Art Festival in February is a huge affair with hundreds of vendors and just in time for Valentines.  If you ride over to the festival you may find yourself being directed to a dirt parking lot unfortunately.

Another new BMW S1000RR made it to the SEAT lunch, Allen Moore rode his very new BMW super bike to the lunch.  Check out the SEAT web site for more pictures of Allen with his new hot rod.  The vintage bikes are still making a nice showing.  Ron Miller’s R80 is a very nicely done vintage Airhead.  No older K bikes this lunch, where are you guys on the older K75s, K100s and K1100s?

A big SEAT Happy Birthday to Janice Beam, the big Five-0, a youngster; and Sharon Strungis, another young lady in her 39s.  Here’s to many more birthdays and many more miles of riding.  Happy Birthday!

November is the Deming Veterans Gathering at Don Cameron’s in Deming, NM on the 13th. Don’t miss it!  Also, there’s this huge bridge on the Arizona/Nevada Border that needs visiting.  The SEAT Christmas Party is just around the corner, this year join us at The Mehrten’s on the 12th of December.  Start planning your side dish now!

Member’s and guest present:  Bill Bachmann, Joe & Janice Beam, Steve Beatty, Ed Birch, Gary & Deborah Blomstrom and their grandsons Ian and Cameron MacArthur, Dan Broadhurst, Dave Delie, Stan Dietzman, Mike & Dawn Garden, Paul & Melanie Godwin and their son Chase Schumsky, Jack Herbst, Menachem Lorber, Ed & Tish Mealy, Deryle & Wanda Mehrten, Ron Miller, Allen Moore, Phillip Orth, Alan Payne, Jeff Prileson, Roger Salzgeber, Dirk Schneider, Alan & Marilyn Speert, Tony & Sharon Strungis, John Wilson, and guest Drew Ware.
