SEAT Lunch at Mount Athos Restaurant in Florence, AZ

†††† The Mount Athos Restaurant & Cafť in Florence is a Greek restaurant (520-868-0735).† It is† located right in the heart of Florence...kind of.

†††† You do have to look close to see it as you go by, ask me how I know.† And we werenít the only ones that came back or looped around.† Fun wasnít it?

†††† On our way up Hwy 79 we stopped and took a† couple of pictures at the Tom Mix Memorial rest stop.† It seems Tom Mix, a true western hero, ignored a bridge out sign and was killed when his suitcase hit him in the head as his Cord plunged into the wash that is now named after him.† A tragic ending to an American Western legend.

†††† As promised the weather was really terrific.† Riding in the high desert in the early morning hours is now a bit chilly.† The heated gear wires are all strung and for sure we will be wearing or carrying the heated jacket liners and heated gloves from now on.

†††† The food and service at Mount Athos was very good, and the portions were big, really big.† We havenít eaten good Greek fair in a few years and their Gyros was very tasty.†† And, quick, efficient waitresses are appreciated.

†††† It was really good to see Bill Schink out riding after a medical problem kept him on the sidelines for a couple of months.† Not to be out done, this was Ed Birchís first long ride after his membership in the zipper club was made official.† Good to see you both riding and grinning again.

†††† There is always a different bunch of folks at the SEAT lunches.† The seasons dictate to some when they can ride and still enjoy it.† This is the riding season in the Desert Southwest.† Cool mornings and mild afternoons open up many desert locations for great rides.†

†††† Donít forget to share your favorite rides and eats with your fellow SEAT members.† Next ride take a bunch of pictures, jot down some words and send them to editor@seatrider.com.
