Hacienda Del Lago, Vail, AZ
You never know what you’ll get when you eat at a Golf Course. There is always a 19th Hole, but some times serving food to a pack of non-golfers is not their forte. Not the case with the Hacienda Del Lago in Vail.
When we ate breakfast at the Del Lago back in ‘09 the Hostess invited us back any time. Lunch in the winter was a much better experience...it was in the 90’s there at 8 a.m. in July. They have very good air conditioning, thank goodness.
Service at the dining tables was very good. The Guy and Gal who waited on us were prompt and courteous. The food was as I remembered it, good portions at a reasonable price. Service at the bar was reported to be not so good.
Riding over to the Del Lago it was cool but not cold. Crisp might be an apt description as we topped the Santa Rita Mountains. Good thing the last few storms waited on us. The Patagonia and Sonoita area got some serious snow. Looking at the pictures we received from several SEAT members of snow everywhere, its hard to believe they were taken in Arizona.
A big SEAT Happy Birthday goes out to Roger Salzgeber, a Christmas Eve baby, a bit long in the tooth but young at heart; Scott Beavers, just a beginner at 51; and Stan Thibaut, only 62 and counting. Here’s to many more miles and many more Birthdays!
Rally season is just around the corner. The National in July (hot months - sorry) is on the west coast again back in Redmond, Oregon. Plan on a Saturday afternoon SEAT group picture.
Contrary to rumors last year that the AZBeemer Rally would move to Williams, Camp Shadow Pines in Heber will again be the location for the Roadrunner Rally over the weekend of the 21st to 23rd of May. Ride up and enjoy the Mogollon Rim’s cool weather.
Mark your calendar for the 12th of June for the SEAT Overnighter. Plans this year take us back to Springerville, staying at Reed’s Lodge with the collective dinner at Booga Reds right across the street. Rooms are very reasonable (928) 333-4323. Tell them you are with SEAT.
Keep an eye on the Rides, Races and Rallies that Bob Muller keeps for us. Lots of places to ride to and hang out with fellow Beemer riders.
