Montgomeryís Grill & Saloon, Vail, AZ

 May 2008

Montgomeryís took excellent care of us.† Considering they were to be closed on Mothersí Day, just opening for us was really good on them.† Seems when we made our reservation for Sunday the 11th of May the person we talked to didnít know they would be closed.†

†††† The owner/manager, a fellow rider, called and asked if we were really planning to be there on Mothersí Day. †I assured him there would be 35 or more.† SEAT did him right with 54 members and guests.† Good on them for opening on their day off, and good on SEAT for making it worth their while.

††††† As evidenced by the Cafť Survey on the SEAT web site, we werenít the only folks who liked Montgomeryís.† The food was really good and served up right now.† Their menu had some really tasty choices.† I didnít hear anyone complain.†

†††† Is this the year of the wind or what?† The sky is blue, the temperatures just right...and then thereís the wind.† Riding over we had head and side winds.† Riding back we had head and side winds.† You canít win.

†††† This is the largest turn out on a Mothersí Day for a SEAT lunch so far.† There were 54 members and guests we counted.† If Wanda doesnít come and say hi at a SEAT lunch, come say hi to Wanda.† We donít want to miss anyone, especially if you are a new member and we need a picture!

†††† The variation of motorcycles in the parking lot is always worth a look.† Quite a few other riders seeing our bikes all line up,† pulled in, most on custom cruisers.† Got to say, I like those quiet Beemer exhaust systems.

†††† June is the SEAT Overnighter in Springerville (see page 6).† If you havenít made your reservations yet, better hurry, and be sure to say you are with SEAT so you get the full discount.†

†††† In July we do the first of two breakfast gatherings.† The Home Plate in Patagonia will be the July SEAT breakfast, and Cindy Louís II on Ajo Hwy(Hwy 87) just past Ryan Air Field will be the August breakfast site.† Helps to ride early in the morning to beat the summer heat.

†††† And by the time you read this, the heat will be on.† Be smart, carry lots of water and drink often.† Every year the heat seems to get harder and harder to ride through.† Temperatures in the southwest desert are breaking into the 100s and Iím sure will only get hotter.

††† Check out the Red Rock Rendezvous Utah Beehive Beemer Rally on page 6.† Each month a sister state (California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico) rally will be ďfeaturedĒ.† Iím sure there will be a SEAT member or two at each of them.† Be sure to wear your SEAT shirt or hat, makes it easy for us to recognize each other.† Looking for those Kodak moments, donít ya know!

†††† Members present:† Larry Andrade, Tab Baker, Jack Betz, Ed Birch, Gary & Deborah Blomstrom, Michael Burke, Robert Carlson, Kevin & Kathy Carpenter, Dave Delie, Tom Dove, Patrick & Danese Dykes, Roy & Phyllis Fox, Mike & Dawn Garden, Dean Hamilton, Mike Larson, Mark & Matthew McClure, Mick McKinnon, Ed & Tish Mealy, Deryle & Wanda Mehrten, Allen & Diane Moore, Ralph & Linda Morley, Carl Mueller, Dan Neal, Phillip Orth, Thomas Palmer, Alan Payne, Michael Proctor, Tony Sanell, Bill Schink & Marilyn Landy, Howard Schultz & Elsa Long, Bryan Seneviratne, Butch Smith & Bev Grosh, Alan & Marilyn Speert, Jim & Denise Strang, Stan Thibaut, Barry West, John Willmann, Joe Zinn.† Guests:† Jim Dudley.
